About Royce

Royce was surrendered to us because he had lost a significant amount of weight, nearly all of his fur was gone, his skin was raw, and he was suffering from painful ear infections. He needed medical intervention. In even a short period of time, Royce looks like a completely different dog. With medication for his ears, medicated baths, and a specialized diet, he is comfortable, and looking his best. His transformation has been remarkable.

Royce is an incredibly smart, food motivated, and high energy dog who is looking for an active home with the right lifestyle to match his enthusiasm. He is strong, jumpy, and full of life, and he will thrive with an adopter who can channel that energy in positive and consistent ways. He is not a dog who will be content with a quiet, low key routine, and the right family will love that about him.

Royce had very little exposure to other dogs before coming to us therefore he can be quite reactive when he sees them, and he will sometimes redirect by grabbing the leash. We are actively working on his training and making real progress, but it is a process that will need to continue with his adoptive family. His intelligence and food motivation make him an excellent student, and with patience and consistency he has a lot of potential.

Royce has been introduced to a few dog friends through careful and structured meetings and has done well with dogs who are well mannered and playful. There is a possibility that he could go home with another dog, but we would want to arrange a few visits first to make sure the match is a good one and that both dogs are comfortable and compatible with each other.
