Buddy came to us as a transfer from another shelter, where he most likely spent the majority of his young life. Despite everything, he has held onto a sweetness that the people who know him best get to see every day, and he is ready for a home where that side of him can truly shine.

Buddy has great leash manners and will do just about anything for a treat, which makes him an absolute pleasure to work with. When he is settled and comfortable, he loves nothing more than lounging on his dog bed and soaking up the peace and quiet. He is a dog who deeply appreciates the simple comforts of home life.

Buddy is also a naturally protective and vocal dog, and he takes time to warm up to new people. Introductions will need to be slow and conducted with a muzzle to ensure everyone stays safe, and patience is key. It can take a while for Buddy to build trust, but those who have taken that time know just how friendly and genuinely sweet he is underneath. He is absolutely worth the wait.

Buddy resource guards his food, his bed, and his toys, this is something his adopter will need to be prepared to manage every single day. Clear structure and consistent boundaries around these things are an essential part of life with Buddy, and his new family will need to be confident and experienced in handling this as part of their daily routine. Because of his resource guarding and his need for a calm and predictable environment, Buddy would do best as the only dog in the home.
