About Preacher

Preacher was surrendered to us due to life changes, through no fault of his own, and he has been adjusting to this new chapter with more grace than you might expect from such a big guy. He is a big boy, there is no denying that, but underneath his large frame is a heart that is full of nothing but love. Preacher has the sweetest way of greeting his favourite people, wiggling his whole bum from side to side like he simply cannot contain his excitement to see you.

Preacher can be a bit timid when he first meets someone new, taking a moment to size up the situation before he decides you are safe. The good news is that he warms up quickly once he feels gentle, patient hands, and once he does, he settles into being the affectionate, easygoing boy he truly is. For such a giant, Preacher actually walks incredibly well on leash, making him a pleasant and manageable companion on outings.

Because of his size, Preacher does best in a home with little to no stairs. He already shows some orthopedic issues at a young age, and this is something that could become more difficult for him to manage as he gets older, so a single level home or one with minimal stairs would set him up for long term comfort and success. Preacher also has a history of chewing and separation anxiety when left alone, so he needs an adopter who does not work long hours away from home and who can commit to keeping his mind engaged and mentally stimulated throughout the day.

Preacher is looking for a calm, understanding home where he can finally settle in, feel truly secure, and share all the love he has been waiting to give. With the right person by his side, this gentle giant has so much warmth still left to offer.
