About Ryder
Ryder was left at our gate one night, squished into a small carrier with a cat. There was no note or explanation, but his microchip told us his name and age. We're still getting to know this little guy, but so far he's a sweet, tiny boy who loves nothing more than cuddling up in a lap for gentle pets.
Ryder is in good shape for an older gentleman. He has possible cataracts in his eyes, which we're treating with two different eye medications three times daily. He'll be seeing an ophthalmologist soon to determine the best long-term treatment plan, so his new family should be prepared to continue his eye care. Ryder can be difficult when it's time for his eye medications, so patience and a calm, gentle approach are key.
Ryder can be reactive with other dogs while out on walks, and we're currently evaluating this behaviour further. We'll update his profile as we learn more about what he needs.
Because Ryder can bite if he is startled, he is looking for a teen or adult only home with people who understand how to approach and handle a sensitive senior. A quiet, patient household where he can feel safe and secure would suit him best.
