Magoo

 Magoo

Male, 6 Years Old, Cane Corso Mix

Size: Giant

Arrival Date: March 2024

Magoo is a big, bold, and beautifully trained dog looking for an experienced adopter who truly understands large and protective breeds.

Magoo is highly trained and extremely food motivated, which makes him a joy to work with for someone who knows how to be consistent and engaged. He is looking for an adopter who will not only appreciate his existing training but will be committed to continuing it and maintaining the structure and consistency he thrives on. He is smart, capable, and eager to work with someone who matches his energy and dedication.

Magoo is also a dog who takes his role as protector seriously. He can be very protective of his space and the people he loves, and introductions with new people will need to be structured and conducted with a muzzle to keep everyone safe. Magoo is also dog aggressive and will do best in a calm environment with minimal triggers.

It is important to know that Magoo does resource guard his food, toys and his bed. These are areas where structure and clear boundaries will always be necessary, and his adopter will need to be confident and consistent in managing these situations as part of their everyday routine with him.

At home and with his people, Magoo shows a completely different side of himself. He loves to run around the yard, play tag, and proudly show off his toys to anyone who will pay attention. He enjoys long walks and is happiest when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep him fulfilled.

Magoo does require two different eye drops daily to manage an ongoing eye condition, but he is wonderfully cooperative about it. He will rest his chin on a surface to make application easy, which speaks volumes about the kind of trust and gentleness this dog is capable of with the right person.

A suitable adopter will be expected to visit Magoo frequently here at Dog Tales, working alongside our trainers to build a solid bond, get comfortable with his training, and ensure that the transition into a new home is set up for success. This investment of time before adoption is essential, and it is what will make all the difference for both Magoo and his new family.
