about luna

Luna's journey has included some challenges - she was originally surrendered due to medical needs, she was later adopted for a few year and unfortunately returned due to her temperament. . Now this wonderfully unique senior girl is ready to find her perfect match with someone who truly understands and appreciates her independent spirit. This vocal lady loves to "talk" to her people and will let you know exactly when she needs to go out or when dinner time has arrived. She's been making great progress in foster care, showing no signs of separation anxiety and maintaining perfect house manners with zero accidents.

Much like a cat, Luna has her own terms for affection and absolutely loves a good butt scratch when she's in the mood for attention. She's beautifully low-maintenance indoors, preferring to sleep on cool tile floors and cozy corners throughout the day, but comes alive with energy when it's time for her beloved long walks. Luna is a delight on leash, walking without pulling and responding well to gentle corrections.

Car rides are another one of Luna's favorite activities - she travels beautifully whether it's a quick trip or an hour-long journey and gets genuinely excited to go for drives. She's treat motivated and knows how to speak, shake hands, and even whisper for her favorite liver treats, showing off her intelligence and eagerness to please when she's engaged.

Luna truly shines when her boundaries are respected. She needs her personal space when resting and doesn't appreciate being disturbed during her downtime. It's important to note that Luna can bite if her boundaries are not read and respected, so she requires an experienced adopter who understands canine body language and communication. While she's generally calm around other dogs during walks and visits, she would do best as the only dog in the home due to her history of resource guarding. She's an ideal companion for someone who understands that the best relationships are built on mutual respect and clear communication.

This overlooked gem is looking for an experienced adopter who appreciates her independent spirit and understands the importance of reading her cues. Luna needs a quiet home without children or other dogs, and her ideal family will be patient enough to let her warm up at her own pace through multiple visits before adoption. With the right person who respects her boundaries and gives her the space she needs, Luna will be a loyal, entertaining companion who brings daily joy with her quirky personality and selective but genuine affection.
