About Buddy

Buddy was brought to us after his family abandoned him in their home following a separation. He was in very poor condition and had clearly been neglected for some time. Despite everything he's been through, Buddy remains one of the kindest, gentlest souls you could ever meet.

Buddy finds joy in the simple things. He loves gentle pets, sitting in the grass with his favourite people, taking a good long nap, and meeting new friends. He does well with children and other pets, though he needs to be handled gently given his medical needs.

When Buddy was rescued, he came to us with several medical issues that will require ongoing management and medication. He has since been diagnosed with cancer that has metastasized, and we are now looking for a palliative foster who can give him a loving, peaceful place to spend this chapter of his life. Buddy will need regular vet visits at Dog Tales, so a foster who lives somewhat close by would be ideal.

Buddy is mostly blind and has some mobility limitations. He cannot manage stairs and is quite heavy to lift, so a one level home would be best for him. His medical plan is still being developed, but he is currently on pain management and eye medication and is responding wonderfully. Buddy also has severe dental disease, and our medical team is assessing whether a dental cleaning would be safe for him given his other conditions.

We are looking for a palliative foster who is willing to work closely with our medical team to build and adjust Buddy's care plan as needed, with the goal of keeping him comfortable, loved, and at peace.

Buddy has already lost so much. Now he just needs somewhere soft to land, and someone to make sure the time he has left is filled with grass, gentle pets, and good naps.
