About Macy

Macy spent five years loyally guarding a shop yard living outside, and now it is finally her turn to be looked after. When she came to us she had nowhere to go, and over the past year her mobility had declined significantly. After being evaluated by a team of specialists, her condition is believed to point to Degenerative Myelopathy. Despite everything life has thrown at her, Macy faces each day with a quiet grace that is truly humbling.

Macy is a special needs girl who requires a little extra help getting around. She is walked with a Help Em Up harness to support her backend, and wears boots on her back paws to protect them from injury. For her longer and more adventurous outings, Macy has taken to a wheelchair like an absolute champ. She is currently on medication to keep her comfortable and attends rehabilitation to help maintain and improve her mobility.

What makes Macy so extraordinary is her spirit. She allows us to care for her with such patience and trust, as though she knows in her heart that we are there to help. She loves searching for treats with her incredible nose, enjoys slow and supported walks, and her absolute favourite thing in the world is curling up on a soft blanket with the people she loves.

Macy is looking for a family that is home often and able to give her the attentive care she needs. Her condition requires frequent potty breaks throughout the day and she can have the accidents, so patience and understanding are a must.

Macy is looking for a home with teens or older as she has never had interactions with small children before. We are evaluating her with other dogs.
