Foster Program
Available Dog Tales Fosters
Thank you for taking the next step and choosing to foster with us! This is where change begins, and we’re thrilled to have you on board. We have many wonderful dogs eagerly waiting for a temporary home. Take a moment to meet some of our adorable residents:
Mello
Mello is a gentle, affectionate boy with soulful eyes and a big heart. He came to us under heartbreaking circumstances—after his owner passed away, Mello and his companion Loca were left alone in their home without food or water. Thankfully, they were rescued and brought to safety, and now Mello is on the path to healing and finding a loving home of his own.
Sensitive by nature, Mello is still adjusting to all the changes in his life. Shelter life has been hard on him, and he’s currently on anxiety medication to help him feel more at ease. He’s also managing allergies that require a special diet and regular medicated baths—but don’t worry, he’s a total champ about it all.
Once he trusts you, Mello’s affectionate and playful personality begins to shine. He loves gentle affection, relaxing walks, and being near his people. He would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can build confidence at his own pace. If you’re someone who finds joy in helping a shy dog blossom, Mello will reward you with quiet devotion and endless love.
Jack
Jack has won the hearts of our staff with his loving, warm personality. He greets us with affectionate hugs every time we enter his room, making him an absolute favorite!
Jack is a laid-back guy who enjoys attention but also appreciates having his personal space when needed. He proudly shows off his new tricks and loves to strut his stuff on walks. Jack would make an excellent sidekick for car rides and adventures, always ready for a new experience by your side.
Jack requires a calm, adult-only home with no other dogs or cats, as he can be reactive and aggressive towards other animals. While he is loving, he may become uncomfortable if someone invades his space when he is feeling uneasy, and this could lead to a defensive reaction. For this reason, Jack will thrive in an environment where he can have the space and time he needs to relax and feel secure.
Jack is highly food motivated and has been clicker-trained, making walks a smooth and enjoyable experience. Jack has been diagnosed with a slowly progressive mobility issue as well as arthritis, he takes daily medication to manage both conditions and attends weekly rehabilitation sessions to help build strength and maintain mobility. To keep him comfortable and prevent muscle soreness, Jack should ideally live in a single-level home, where he doesn’t need to navigate stairs.
Harley
Harley, a local surrender who's learning to trust the world one gentle introduction at a time. Having been isolated and not properly socialized, Harley is naturally cautious around new people and can be reactive, requiring careful, patient introductions. He's not suitable for homes with children, but once he gets to know you, this sweet boy transforms into an absolute wiggle machine full of affection.
Harley has so much love to give and adores getting pets and attention from his trusted people. He's an active, playful guy who thrives on long walks, running around in the yard, and chasing after his favourite ball. This energetic boy loves doing zoomies at top speed and is always up for a good game of chase.
When it comes to other dogs, Harley is selective about his friendships. He's had positive interactions with some canine companions but doesn't always get along with male dogs and can be reactive toward them. He does best when he can choose his own dog friends carefully.
Harley is incredibly intelligent and loves showing off his tricks, always eager to learn new ones. He's generous with his kisses and will happily clean your entire face if you let him. With the right guidance and a patient, understanding owner who appreciates his need for time and space, Harley will become an amazing companion who's loyal and loving to his family. He's ready to find someone who sees past his cautious exterior to the devoted, affectionate dog he truly is.
Malik
Malik is a resilient young dog who has overcome a challenging start in life to become the loving companion he is today. This brave boy came to us from a difficult situation where he missed out on the crucial early experiences that most puppies enjoy. Without the chance to learn basic skills or simply play as a youngster, Malik is still discovering the world and building his confidence one day at a time.
While Malik may be nervous around new people at first, his transformation is remarkable once he feels safe. With the help of some tasty treats and a patient, controlled introduction, this sweet boy reveals his true nature as an absolutely wonderful buddy. His initial wariness melts away to show a dog who genuinely wants to connect and trust.
Where Malik truly shines is in his relationships with other dogs. He has an infectious love for canine companionship and would greatly benefit from living with another dog who can help him continue building his confidence and social skills. These furry friendships are essential for his ongoing development and happiness.
Malik would thrive in a home with teenagers or adults who understand his unique needs and background. He's searching for a dedicated family committed to continuing his training journey, particularly with leash manners and basic skills he's still learning. A quiet home and neighborhood would be ideal for this sensitive soul, providing the calm environment he needs to feel secure and continue growing.
This energetic boy has some quirks that come with his background - he can be quite mouthy and will need patient guidance and consistent training to learn appropriate ways to interact. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are crucial for Malik, as draining his energy helps him focus and learn more effectively.
Sacha
Sacha is a gentle, loving girl who’s ready for a fresh start. She was surrendered when her previous family could no longer care for her and her special needs—but that hasn’t stopped her from being one of the kindest, most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet.
After a fall earlier this year, Sacha was briefly paralyzed in her back legs. It was a scary time, but thanks to rest, medication, and lots of love, she’s made incredible progress. While she was a bit wobbly at first, she’s now getting around really well on her own! She’s recently started rehabilitation to help her build back even more strength—and she’s already showing great results.
Sacha is calm, cuddly, and absolutely adores being around people. She’ll happily follow you from room to room, always ready for attention, treats, or a cozy spot by your side. Her gentle nature and sweet eyes will melt your heart in seconds.
She’s looking for a home where she can continue her journey surrounded by love, encouragement, and a soft place to land. She may need a little extra support now and then, but the love she gives in return is truly something special.
Maddy
Maddy is a sweet senior girl who came to us when her owner became ill and could no longer provide the care she needed. Having spent her entire life as an outdoor dog since puppyhood, Maddy is now discovering the wonderful world of indoor living, and she's absolutely loving every moment of it. The simple pleasures of air conditioning on a hot day and sinking into a soft, comfortable dog bed have opened up a whole new chapter of comfort for this deserving girl.
What makes Maddy truly special is her enthusiastic approach to life's changes. This sweetheart gets genuinely excited about new experiences, greeting each discovery with the kind of joy that's both heartwarming and infectious. Her eagerness to embrace new things shows just what a resilient and adaptable spirit she has, even in her golden years.
Maddy is looking for a patient, understanding family who will take pleasure in showing her all the wonderful experiences she's been missing. There's something magical about watching a senior dog discover indoor comforts for the first time, and Maddy's new family will have the unique joy of witnessing her continued journey of discovery.
Maddy takes daily medication for osteoarthritis, primarily in her hips, and for hypothyroidism. She’s doing well with her current treatment and remains comfortable and happy. Her hypothyroidism requires regular monitoring through blood work to ensure her medication dosage stays appropriate. Her future family should be prepared to continue her care and routine checkups to keep her feeling her best.
Since Maddy is still being evaluated with other dogs and has never been exposed to small children, she would thrive best in a home with teenagers or adults who can appreciate her gentle nature and give her the time she needs to adjust. Her ideal family understands that some of life's greatest rewards come to those who are willing to be patient and nurturing, especially with a deserving senior who has so much love left to give.
Dottie
Dottie, a sweet soul whose journey to us began through heartbreaking circumstances when her beloved owner passed away. With no family members able to provide the care she needed, we stepped in to save this precious girl from an uncertain fate, and we're so grateful we did.
Despite the recent upheaval in her life, Dottie's loving spirit radiates from every fiber of her being. This happy girl approaches each new day with infectious enthusiasm, greeting everyone she meets with genuine warmth and affection. Her wagging tail and joyful energy have a way of brightening even the cloudiest days.
Like many of us, Dottie has her quirks and preferences. Car rides make her a bit anxious, and she appreciates patience when adjusting to new situations, but once she feels secure in her surroundings, her wonderful personality truly shines. Nothing makes Dottie happier than sinking into a luxurious afternoon nap on her favorite plush bed, followed by her absolute favorite indulgence in the world: belly rubs that seem to melt away all her worries.
She would thrive as the only dog in the household, as she can become protective of her resources and space when other dogs are around.
Dottie is searching for a stable, patient home where she can establish a comforting routine and truly feel safe as she bonds with her new family. She would flourish with an adopter who doesn't work long hours, as she's still learning to be comfortable staying home alone after all these changes in her life. With time, love, and understanding, Dottie is ready to become someone's most devoted companion.
Dottie is ready to start her next chapter—a chapter filled with love, stability, and the warmth of a forever family. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will adore you endlessly, Dottie may be the perfect fit.
Murphy and Peppa
Murphy and Peppa are an adorable bonded duo whose love for each other is only rivaled by their love for their humans! These two big, goofy sweethearts are full of personality and affection, and they light up any yard they get to romp around in together.
They’re playful, loving, and incredibly loyal. Whether they’re chasing each other in the yard or snuggling up after a day of fun, they’re happiest when they’re together—and with you by their side.
Murphy and Peppa are dog-selective, so they’ll do best with a family that understands their needs and is committed to continuing their leash training. The good news? They’ve already made great progress with consistent, positive reinforcement!
Health-wise, both have been seen by our veterinarian. Murphy does have some food allergies, but they’re easily managed with a special vegetarian diet—no medication needed.
These two are ready to bring double the joy, double the love, and double the cuddles to their forever home.
Tova
Meet Tova, a truly special dog with a heart full of love to share. This affectionate sweetheart lives for human connection, showering everyone she meets with warmth and devotion. Tova adores children and adults alike, making her an ideal family companion with her gentle nature. She's happiest when cuddling on the couch or simply spending quality time with her people, always displaying the perfect balance of playfulness and calm. When outdoors Tova is very bold and loves walks ! She needs a strong walker to continue working on her leash manners.
Tova came to us when her previous family's changing circumstances meant they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. While she forms incredible bonds with humans, Tova needs to be the only pet in a home located in a neighborhood where she can enjoy peaceful walks with no encounters with other dogs. She's reactive around other canines and thrives best as the sole four-legged family member.
Ruby
Meet Ruby, a strong-hearted lady with a remarkable story. She was found alone on the streets while pregnant, and after a challenging start, Ruby has been transferred to our shelter where she can receive the specialized care she truly deserves. Ruby has been diagnosed with Degenerative Valvular Disease, which affects all the valves of her heart. We're currently working with a cardiologist to further understand her condition, but at this time, she doesn't require any medication or activity restrictions. Ruby also suffers from allergies and needs a special diet and treats to keep her skin and ears in the best condition.
Ruby may initially be shy when meeting new people, but don’t let her reserved nature fool you! Once she feels safe and comfortable, she blossoms into a bundle of pure love and affection. Her big heart is just waiting to connect with someone who can offer her the patience and understanding she needs to build confidence.
Ruby is currently a work in progress and would thrive in a home with an experienced adopter who can continue her leash training. Due to her past experiences, Ruby can be reactive to other dogs, and we're carefully assessing her socialization skills. Her ideal family would be one with teens or adults who can provide a calm, consistent environment and appreciate Ruby’s unique personality.
Despite her challenges, Ruby is more than her past – she’s a powerful girl with an enormous capacity for love, just waiting to share her heart with the right family. Ruby needs a calm, understanding home where she can continue her healing journey, build trust, and become the loving companion she was always meant to be. Could you be the one to help her grow into the incredible dog she’s destined to be?
Kolbe
Kolbe may be small in size, but he’s big on personality! This spirited little guy was surrendered to us when his previous family struggled to meet his exercise, mouthing, and training needs. Now, Kolbe is searching for an experienced, adult-only home that can provide him with the structure and routine he craves.
Kolbe is incredibly friendly and his tail is always wagging! His excitement is contagious, and he has the most adorable smile when he's happy. However, when Kolbe gets anxious or playful, he can sometimes grab random objects or people's clothing. He’ll need a family that is dedicated to helping him navigate these behaviors and avoid situations that could overstimulate him. For this reason, Kolbe would do best in a home without children, small dogs, or cats. We are currently assessing how he interacts with large dogs, so we'll provide updates as we learn more.
Kolbe loves working for treats, receiving butt scratches, and playing structured games of fetch and tug. He will require a few visits and training sessions at Dog Tales to ensure a smooth and successful transition to his forever home.
Upon arrival, Kolbe was diagnosed with Leptospirosis. After undergoing intensive treatment, Kolbe has made a full recovery from the infection, but his kidneys were damaged. He has been diagnosed with early-stage chronic kidney disease (Stage 3). At this time, he is stable, with no symptoms aside from needing to urinate a bit more frequently than usual. His condition is being closely monitored, and he does not require any medications at this stage. However, Kolbe should be fed a prescription kidney diet to help slow the progression of his condition.
Kolbe is a sweet, loving boy who just needs the right family to help him continue to thrive. Could that be you?
We’d like to provide a link to Kolbe’s current diet so that any interested families can easily reach out to their vet for information on ordering and pricing.
Brown
Brown is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet! His enthusiasm is contagious, and he finds pure joy in just about everything—walks, treats, belly rubs, and all the love he can get. With his high energy, Brown is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise and ongoing training to keep him engaged and happy. He’s wonderful with people, including children, but his excitement can make him a bit jumpy, so a home without very small kids would be best.
Brown is currently being assessed for his interactions with other dogs. He’s doing well with female dogs but will need slow and careful introductions to ensure positive relationships with other canine companions.
Resilient and full of spirit, Brown has overcome a lot. He was transferred to us from another shelter, where he was rescued from a neglect and cruelty situation. Shortly after arriving, Brown was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sand fly that requires daily medication and routine blood and urine testing. He also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, both of which have been successfully treated, though his blood values still need regular monitoring.
Despite these challenges, Brown’s vibrant personality hasn’t wavered. He was recently diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus, an immune disorder affecting his skin, but with treatment of a low-dose steroid, he’s doing well.
Is Brown the loving, resilient companion you’ve been waiting for? His medical needs don’t slow him down, and they shouldn't slow you down from welcoming this wonderful boy into your home!
Jackie
Jackie’s journey has been a truly remarkable one. When he first came to us, he was very feral and understandably uncertain of the world around him. Since then, Jackie has made incredible progress and has grown into a confident, happy dog. He’s now excited to meet new people and has blossomed into a social butterfly, eager to form connections and share his warmth with everyone he meets.
While Jackie has made great strides in his socialization, he can still be reactive around other dogs, so he would do best as the only pet in the household or with careful introductions to compatible companions. With his newfound confidence, Jackie is ready to find a family who can continue to guide him through this next chapter in his life.
If you’re looking for a dog who has overcome challenges and is ready to offer love and companionship, Jackie is the perfect fit. He’ll need a patient and understanding family who can help him continue to grow and thrive in a secure and loving environment.
Aviah and Jeremiah
Aviah and Jeremiah are a sweet bonded pair whose special connection is truly heartwarming. These two are inseparable and would love to find a home where they can stay together and continue bringing joy to their family. Coming from a very abusive and neglectful situation where they were caged and left to fend for themselves, they always had each other through the darkest times.
Aviah is a lovely girl with no medical concerns who serves as both companion and guide. She's affectionate and an excellent companion who loves being by your side. Her gentle and loving nature makes her a joy to be around, and she's wonderful with other dogs, though she's perfectly content being devoted to her special boy.
Jeremiah, her partner in crime, is a sweet and brave boy who is blind. While he relies on Aviah for guidance, comfort, and security, he's surprisingly the confident one of the relationship. Despite his blindness, Jeremiah doesn't let it slow him down one bit. He's full of love and has a great spirit, though he does require daily medication and a special diet to help manage his chronic diarrhea. With continued care, he's happy and healthy and thrives alongside his beloved Aviah. While Jeremiah prefers his sister to be his only canine friend, their bond is unbreakable.
Both dogs take time to warm up to new people, but once they do, they're incredibly affectionate and loving. They both love to play fetch, and it's amazing to watch Jeremiah's intelligence shine as he finds the ball every time, as long as Aviah doesn't playfully steal it first. Their teamwork and trust in each other is beautiful to witness.
These two are a dynamic duo whose bond is truly special. They're looking for a loving home where they can continue to rely on one another and share their love with a family who appreciates the depth of their connection. If you're looking for a pair who will give you unconditional love and joy, Aviah and Jeremiah might just be the perfect match for you.
Abraham
Abraham, a resilient boy who's learning to discover the world one gentle step at a time. Rescued from a backyard breeder where he spent his days isolated without walks or new experiences, Abraham is naturally nervous and timid at first. But once he feels safe and comfortable, he transforms into the most affectionate, cuddly companion you could imagine.
The Abraham his caregivers know and love is playful and active, romping around with toys and even jumping into their arms on command. He's discovered a passion for fetch and swimming, showing just how much joy he can experience when he feels secure. His enthusiasm for life shines through once his confidence builds.
Abraham needs a quiet home without children where he can decompress and feel safe. He can be reactive to strangers, so slow, positive introductions are essential. Busy environments with lots of people or dog traffic can overwhelm him, causing him to panic and pull strongly on the leash. He would thrive in a home with a fully fenced backyard where he can truly relax and open up at his own pace.
Due to his flight risk, Abraham needs extra safety measures including double leashing on walks, a GPS collar, and baby gates at doorways to prevent escape attempts. He does well with female dogs but doesn't get along with males. Abraham is looking for someone who will make him feel safe without rushing his progress, understanding that he'll always need patience with certain situations.
At Dog Tales, Abraham has found comfort in his special setup - a cozy bed inside a kids playhouse that serves as his safe haven. This sweet little sanctuary would come home with him to help ease his transition and provide the security he needs to continue blossoming into the wonderful companion he's meant to be.
Spice
Spice was once a feral puppy who's been making remarkable strides in her journey. Rescued alongside her siblings as a very shy and fearful pup, Spice has slowly been learning to trust the world around her. While she's still naturally reserved, she's begun accepting treats from staff and showing steady improvement in her on-leash walking skills.
Spice's path to feeling fully at home will take time and patience. She may need extra encouragement to show affection, but her caregivers are confident she has the potential to develop a deep, meaningful bond with the right family. She would greatly benefit from having another dog in the home to serve as a confidence-building companion and guide, though she can be selective and reactive to dogs she doesn't know.
Due to her fearful nature and flight risk, Spice needs extra safety measures including a fully fenced yard, baby gates throughout the home, double leashing on walks, and a GPS collar to keep her secure as she continues adjusting to life.
Spice is looking for a patient family who understands that some of the most rewarding relationships take time to develop. She needs people who won't rush her progress but will celebrate each small breakthrough as she slowly transforms from a frightened feral puppy into the loving, loyal companion she's meant to be. With the right environment and gentle guidance, Spice will continue to blossom and show just how much love a grateful heart can hold.
