Christy & Oliver

Christy and Oliver are a devoted mother-and-son duo ready to begin their next chapter together in a loving, patient home.Christy is an approximately 2-year-old Maremma Sheepdog who knows what it means to overcome hardship. After being abandoned and left living outdoors, this gentle girl has shown incredible resilience. She may be timid at first, but Christy truly loves people and blossoms with patience and kindness. Once she feels safe, her sweet and loyal nature shines through. Christy has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with Lyme disease. She has since been treated, is currently asymptomatic, and simply requires yearly monitoring to ensure she continues to thrive. Oliver, about 1 year old and believed to be Christy’s son, is her constant companion and shadow. The two share a beautiful bond and love spending time together outdoors, whether it’s exploring the yard or enjoying peaceful walks side by side. Oliver is the more timid of the pair and had very limited human interaction before coming into care. He was quite feral when he first arrived, but he is slowly learning what affection, safety, and love feel like. Watching him discover trust has been incredibly rewarding. Like Christy, Oliver was also diagnosed with Lyme disease. He has completed treatment and will require regular monitoring to ensure he remains healthy and does not need additional antibiotics in the future. In addition, Oliver was diagnosed with a luxating patella in his left leg, which has been surgically repaired. He is healing beautifully and is almost ready to run and play freely with Christy again — something he is very much looking forward to! Together, Christy and Oliver are looking for a calm, understanding home that will give them the time and reassurance they need to continue building confidence. In return, they will offer unwavering loyalty, gentle companionship, and the special joy that comes from earning the trust of dogs who truly appreciate being loved. If you have room in your heart and home for two deserving souls, Christy and Oliver are ready to meet you.

Heidi

This sweet, loving girl is searching for her perfect match. After a recent skin biopsy, Heidi was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which means her delicate skin is prone to cuts and injuries that will need gentle care throughout her life and immediate vet care when injuries happen. She's looking for a devoted owner who understands her medical needs and can be home most of the day to keep a watchful eye on her. She'll need to stay on leash during walks to keep her safe. Additionally, because her condition means she needs to avoid rough play, she's searching for a calm home without other dogs or young children. This affectionate girl is an absolute cuddle bug who will happily snuggle up beside you for hours. She also has the gentlest way of playing with her stuffed toys, which she adores. She likes to get out her energy doing nose work and searching for treats or doing a treat puzzle. If you have a patient heart and room on the couch for a devoted companion, Heidi is ready to fill your home with warmth and unconditional love.

Traye

Traye is a handsome and determined explorer who found his way to us when an overcrowded shelter was forced to close its doors. This spirited boy approaches life with the curiosity of a true adventurer, always on a mission to discover something new about the world around him. Whether he's following an interesting scent trail or investigating a fascinating sight, Traye brings enthusiasm and focus to every walk, making each outing an exciting journey of discovery.

While Traye enjoys canine company, he's quite selective about his four-legged friends and benefits from careful, gradual introductions when meeting new dogs. His discerning nature means he prefers to choose his companions thoughtfully rather than rushing into friendships.

Traye's loyalty to his people runs incredibly deep, and he thrives in an adult-only environment where his protective instincts are both understood and respected. When new people enter his space, he requires a separate, secure area where he can observe and process the situation safely. His need for structure extends to having a strict routine for all introductions, as this helps prevent any defensive reactions that might occur when he feels overwhelmed. Starting introductions outside the home, away from his personal space, allows him to meet newcomers in a more neutral, less stressful environment. With lots of treats of course!

With proper guidance and consistent structure, Traye has incredible potential to become a deeply loving and devoted companion. He's seeking an experienced adopter who appreciates the value of patience and is ready to invest the time needed to build a strong foundation together.

Once settled and secure, Traye reveals his softer side - he would be absolutely content to spend his days lounging on the couch beside his special person, gazing out the window at the world beyond while enjoying the comfort of home and the warmth of a trusted bond.

Toby

Toby was found on a frozen street after being hit by a car, paralyzed and unable to move. His previous owners were contacted but chose not to reclaim him due to his injuries. A veterinary clinic stepped in to keep him comfortable and reached out to us for help. Toby underwent spinal surgery to stabilize his back, and he's now making steady progress through weekly rehabilitation sessions as his body heals.

While Toby is adapting remarkably well to his new reality, he will eventually be fitted with a custom wheelchair once his spine has fully mended, giving him the mobility and independence he needs to navigate the world again. His future family will need to be home frequently to provide the consistent care he requires. Toby is incontinent, which means he'll need regular expressing and understanding when accidents happen. Toby is more susceptible to UTI’s, therefore will need to be monitored closely. This is simply part of loving him, and he'll repay that care tenfold with the sweetest, most grateful kisses you can imagine.

This gentle soul has his quirks that make him endearing. He loves being tucked snugly under a blanket for his naps, where he'll serenade you with his soft snoring. After everything he's been through, Toby understandably feels vulnerable and can be wary of strangers, sometimes nipping when unfamiliar people approach too quickly. He needs slow, gentle introductions to feel safe, but once he trusts you, his affectionate nature shines through completely.

Toby needs a calm, peaceful home where he can continue healing without stress or chaos. A household without children or overly energetic dogs would be best - somewhere quiet where he can feel secure and build his confidence. If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Toby write the next chapter of his incredible survival story, he's ready to show you just how much love he has left to give.

Wally

Wally is a spirited and opinionated guy who's currently on the mend from a TPLO surgery that's going to have him feeling better than ever. He's already doing wonderfully in his recovery, enjoying short, calm walks and keeping his clever mind engaged with food puzzles while he heals. Once he's back to full strength, Wally will be ready to channel all that energy into the active lifestyle he loves, whether that's chasing after his favorite ball or engaging in a fun game of tug of war.

Wally knows what he wants and isn't shy about letting you know. If you're not tossing his toy quickly enough, he'll give you a bark to remind you that playtime waits for no one. This confident personality means he needs an experienced home that understands large breed dogs and can provide him with structure, consistency, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He's a dog who thrives with clear boundaries and an owner who can match his strong-willed nature with patience and understanding.

The ideal home for Wally would be one with teenagers or adults only, as his exuberant energy and bossy demeanor are best suited to a household without young children. He's also looking to be the only dog in the home, as he can be reactive toward other dogs and doesn't appreciate having to share his prized possessions like toys and his cozy bed. Wally wants to be your one and only companion, the dog who gets all your attention and affection without any competition. Wally will require surgery on his other leg once he is fully healed. He has hip dysplasia with a sub luxated left hip. He will be on pain meds/supplements for life. He was also positive for Lyme disease, treated, and a recheck blood test is due in a few months.

If you're an experienced dog owner ready for a loyal, energetic companion with a big personality and even bigger heart, Wally might just be the perfect match for you.

Murphy and Peppa

 Murphy and Peppa are an adorable bonded duo whose love for each other is only rivaled by their love for their humans! These two big, goofy sweethearts are full of personality and affection, and they light up any yard they get to romp around in together.

They’re playful, loving, and incredibly loyal. Whether they’re chasing each other in the yard or snuggling up after a day of fun, they’re happiest when they’re together—and with you by their side.

Murphy and Peppa are dog-selective, so they’ll do best with a family that understands their needs and is committed to continuing their leash training. The good news? They’ve already made great progress with consistent, positive reinforcement!

Health-wise, both have been seen by our veterinarian. Murphy does have some food allergies, but they’re easily managed with a special vegetarian diet—no medication needed.

These two are ready to bring double the joy, double the love, and double the cuddles to their forever home.

Rocky

Rocky was surrendered to us along with another Shepherd when their owner became ill and was no longer able to care for them. Rocky spent much of his life living outside of a workshop, so he missed out on the early training that would have helped him learn good manners. The good news is that Rocky is extremely treat and toy motivated and loves to please, which makes him such a joy to work with. He is eager to learn and is currently working on his excited jumping up and leash pulling.

Rocky is looking for an adult only home with no other dogs, as he can be reactive around them. He does best with slow introductions to new people, paired with treats and consistent structure to help him feel comfortable. When it comes to playtime, Rocky is a true fetch enthusiast and will happily bring the ball right back for another throw.

Rocky needs a patient person who loves to stay active just as much as he does. With the right guidance and plenty of exercise, he is ready to become a wonderful and devoted companion.

Ruby

Meet Ruby, a strong-hearted lady with a remarkable story. She was found alone on the streets while pregnant, and after a challenging start, Ruby has been transferred to our shelter where she can receive the specialized care she truly deserves. Ruby has been diagnosed with Degenerative Valvular Disease, which affects all the valves of her heart. We're currently working with a cardiologist to further understand her condition, but at this time, she doesn't require any medication or activity restrictions. Ruby also suffers from allergies and needs a special diet and treats to keep her skin and ears in the best condition.

Ruby may initially be shy when meeting new people, but don’t let her reserved nature fool you! Once she feels safe and comfortable, she blossoms into a bundle of pure love and affection. Her big heart is just waiting to connect with someone who can offer her the patience and understanding she needs to build confidence.

Ruby is currently a work in progress and would thrive in a home with an experienced adopter who can continue her leash training. Due to her past experiences, Ruby can be reactive to other dogs, and we're carefully assessing her socialization skills. Her ideal family would be one with teens or adults who can provide a calm, consistent environment and appreciate Ruby’s unique personality.

Despite her challenges, Ruby is more than her past – she’s a powerful girl with an enormous capacity for love, just waiting to share her heart with the right family. Ruby needs a calm, understanding home where she can continue her healing journey, build trust, and become the loving companion she was always meant to be. Could you be the one to help her grow into the incredible dog she’s destined to be?

Jackie

Jackie’s journey has been a truly remarkable one. When he first came to us, he was very feral and understandably uncertain of the world around him. Since then, Jackie has made incredible progress and has grown into a confident, happy dog. He’s now excited to meet new people and has blossomed into a social butterfly, eager to form connections and share his warmth with everyone he meets.

While Jackie has made great strides in his socialization, he can still be reactive around other dogs, so he would do best as the only pet in the household or with careful introductions to compatible companions. With his newfound confidence, Jackie is ready to find a family who can continue to guide him through this next chapter in his life.

If you’re looking for a dog who has overcome challenges and is ready to offer love and companionship, Jackie is the perfect fit. He’ll need a patient and understanding family who can help him continue to grow and thrive in a secure and loving environment.

Aviah and Jeremiah

Aviah and Jeremiah are a sweet bonded pair whose special connection is truly heartwarming. These two are inseparable and would love to find a home where they can stay together and continue bringing joy to their family. Coming from a very abusive and neglectful situation where they were caged and left to fend for themselves, they always had each other through the darkest times.

Aviah is a lovely girl with no medical concerns who serves as both companion and guide. She's affectionate and an excellent companion who loves being by your side. Her gentle and loving nature makes her a joy to be around, and she's wonderful with other dogs, though she's perfectly content being devoted to her special boy.

Jeremiah, her partner in crime, is a sweet and brave boy who is blind. While he relies on Aviah for guidance, comfort, and security, he's surprisingly the confident one of the relationship. Despite his blindness, Jeremiah doesn't let it slow him down one bit. He's full of love and has a great spirit, though he does require daily medication and a special diet to help manage his chronic diarrhea. With continued care, he's happy and healthy and thrives alongside his beloved Aviah. While Jeremiah prefers his sister to be his only canine friend, their bond is unbreakable.

Both dogs take time to warm up to new people, but once they do, they're incredibly affectionate and loving. They both love to play fetch, and it's amazing to watch Jeremiah's intelligence shine as he finds the ball every time, as long as Aviah doesn't playfully steal it first. Their teamwork and trust in each other is beautiful to witness.

These two are a dynamic duo whose bond is truly special. They're looking for a loving home where they can continue to rely on one another and share their love with a family who appreciates the depth of their connection. Abraham

Abraham, a resilient boy who's learning to discover the world one gentle step at a time. Rescued from a backyard breeder where he spent his days isolated without walks or new experiences, Abraham is naturally nervous and timid at first. But once he feels safe and comfortable, he transforms into the most affectionate, cuddly companion you could imagine.

The Abraham his caregivers know and love is playful and active, romping around with toys and even jumping into their arms on command. He's discovered a passion for fetch and swimming, showing just how much joy he can experience when he feels secure. His enthusiasm for life shines through once his confidence builds.

Abraham needs a quiet home without children where he can decompress and feel safe. He can be reactive to strangers, so slow, positive introductions are essential. Busy environments with lots of people or dog traffic can overwhelm him, causing him to panic and pull strongly on the leash. He would thrive in a home with a fully fenced backyard where he can truly relax and open up at his own pace.

Due to his flight risk, Abraham needs extra safety measures including double leashing on walks, a GPS collar, and baby gates at doorways to prevent escape attempts. He does well with female dogs but doesn't get along with males. Abraham is looking for someone who will make him feel safe without rushing his progress, understanding that he'll always need patience with certain situations.

At Dog Tales, Abraham has found comfort in his special setup - a cozy bed inside a kids playhouse that serves as his safe haven. This sweet little sanctuary would come home with him to help ease his transition and provide the security he needs to continue blossoming into the wonderful companion he's meant to be.

Mackey

Mackey is a true powerhouse who was rescued from a life of solitude, living outdoors completely on his own. Despite his challenging past, this incredible boy has emerged as a fun-loving spirit with an infectious enthusiasm for life. Mackey's journey from isolation to connection is ongoing, and he's proving every day that with the right support, remarkable transformations are possible.

Trust doesn't come easily to Mackey - his years of self-reliance have taught him to be cautious around new people. However, with proper introductions and generous amounts of time, he gradually learns to share his world and offer his affection. Once he's comfortable with his chosen humans, Mackey's true personality shines through. He becomes an attentive listener who's delightfully bouncy and playful, bringing joy and energy to every interaction.

Mackey's intelligence is truly impressive, and he's already learned multiple strategies to manage his resource guarding behaviors. He thrives with clear structure and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement for desired behaviors. His future family will need to be experienced in working with resource guarding and committed to helping him continue adapting to a home environment. Mackey will benefit from ongoing muzzle training for veterinary visits and established boundaries within the home to help him feel secure and successful.

This athletic boy possesses a strong prey drive that makes him reactive toward small dogs and wildlife, requiring careful management during walks and outdoor time.

He's seeking an experienced teen or older family who understands the dedication required to help him reach his full potential.

Natasha

Meet Natasha – a gentle girl with roots in Russia and a heart full of love to give. While much of her past remains a mystery, what we do know is that Natasha is searching for a calm, peaceful forever home where she can feel safe and loved.

Naturally timid around new people, Natasha thrives in a quiet, adult-only environment where she can take her time to settle in. But once she feels comfortable, she’ll reward your patience with tail wags, quiet companionship, and a love for leisurely strolls by your side.

Natasha has been examined by our vet and is in great health, aside from needing to shed a few pounds with the help of a gentle weight-loss plan.

If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal companion to share your days and snuggle up with in the evenings, Natasha might just be the perfect match for you.

Royce

Royce was surrendered to us because he had lost a significant amount of weight, nearly all of his fur was gone, his skin was raw, and he was suffering from painful ear infections. He needed medical intervention. In even a short period of time, Royce looks like a completely different dog. With medication for his ears, medicated baths, and a specialized diet, he is comfortable, and looking his best. His transformation has been remarkable.

Royce is an incredibly smart, food motivated, and high energy dog who is looking for an active home with the right lifestyle to match his enthusiasm. He is strong, jumpy, and full of life, and he will thrive with an adopter who can channel that energy in positive and consistent ways. He is not a dog who will be content with a quiet, low key routine, and the right family will love that about him.

Royce had very little exposure to other dogs before coming to us therefore he can be quite reactive when he sees them, and he will sometimes redirect by grabbing the leash. We are actively working on his training and making real progress, but it is a process that will need to continue with his adoptive family. His intelligence and food motivation make him an excellent student, and with patience and consistency he has a lot of potential.

Royce has been introduced to a few dog friends through careful and structured meetings and has done well with dogs who are well mannered and playful. There is a possibility that he could go home with another dog, but we would want to arrange a few visits first to make sure the match is a good one and that both dogs are comfortable and compatible with each other.

If you are active, experienced, and looking for a dog who will push you to be your best while giving you endless loyalty and love in return, Royce is ready for his second chance.

Marvin

Marvin is a truly special soul with a heart full of love and a spirit that refuses to quit. This handsome pup was surrendered after he suddenly became  paralyzed in his hind-end, but he hasn’t let that slow him down one bit!

After being evaluated by a neurologist and undergoing an MRI, Marvin was diagnosed with L4-S3 myelopathy—an acute spinal cord injury that initially left him paraplegic with no pain sensation (nociception) in his back legs. But here’s the amazing news: after just a few sessions of rehabilitation, Marvin has shown signs of regaining pain sensation—a hopeful sign that recovery is possible!

His neurologist is optimistic that with daily physical rehab and continued therapy at home, Marvin may walk again someday. For now, he’s learning to zip around in his snazzy blue wheelchair, and he’s already a total pro!

Marvin is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and sweet-natured. He loves people, enjoys being part of the action, and never says no to a cuddle session. Despite his challenges, his zest for life is infectious and inspiring.

He’s looking for a home that’s ready to continue his rehab journey—someone patient, loving, and excited to root for Marvin every step (or roll!) of the way. He may need a little extra care, but what he gives back in love, joy, and gratitude is immeasurable.

Mocha

Mocha's story is one of survival and a whole lot of heart. She came to us in crisis, unable to eat or keep down food or water for an entire week. We rushed her into emergency care where she underwent surgery to remove a foreign body that had been making her so ill. Through it all, Mocha fought hard, and she has come out the other side healthier and happier than ever.

Now that she is on the mend, Mocha's true personality has had the chance to shine. She is deeply affectionate and loyal, the kind of dog who wants to be wherever you are. Expect a devoted shadow following you from room to room, soaking up every moment with the people she loves. Mocha is also wonderfully loving with children, making her a beautiful fit for a family looking to give her a home full of life and warmth.

Mocha is still growing in confidence and is working on her leash manners. She is a strong girl on the leash and can feel anxious at times, so she is hoping to find a patient and persistent family who will support her as she continues to learn and settle in. An adopter with some experience handling strong dogs would set her up for success.

Mocha has shown quite a bit of reactivity around other dogs and is looking for a home where she will be the only dog. This is where she is most comfortable and where she truly gets to be her best self, showering her people with all of the love she has to give.

Tora

Tora is a sweet and affectionate girl who came to us when her previous owner faced a difficult move and couldn't take her along. This wonderful girl has already stolen the hearts of everyone here with her gentle nature and impeccable manners. Tora absolutely loves human companionship and thrives on attention and affection from her people.

This special girl has some favorite activities that bring out her playful side. She's an enthusiastic passenger who enjoys car rides, finding adventure in every journey. On warm days, you'll often find her cooling off with a refreshing swim in our pond, where she's perfectly at home in the water. But perhaps her greatest talent is her expertise at fetch - she's truly a master of the game and will happily play with anyone willing to throw a ball. For a senior girl she sure can keep up! After all that excitement and activity, Tora loves nothing more than to curl up for a well-deserved nap, recharging for her next adventure. 

Tora would be most comfortable in a home with teenagers or adults, as she can become anxious and mouthy when around small children. She also does not get along with small dogs but can possibly go home with a male dog that has a compatible personality after a few checks at Dog Tales. The ideal family for Tora would understand her need for structure and patience while appreciating her loving, well-behaved nature.

This remarkable girl is ready to become someone's devoted companion and bring joy to a family who can provide her with the loving, single-dog home she needs to truly shine.

Finn

Finn is a loyal and intelligent dog who came to us as a local surrender due to behavioural challenges that require an experienced and dedicated adopter. While Finn has some specific needs, he also brings wonderful qualities to the table, including his love for fetch, long walks, and training sessions where his intelligence truly shines.

Finn is seeking an adult-only home without other dogs, as he struggles with reactivity toward other canines and does not do well around children. His ideal living situation would be in a quieter neighbourhood with minimal traffic where he can safely enjoy the freedom to run and play without the stress of encountering triggers.

This handsome boy comes with some behavioural considerations that require ongoing commitment. Finn can redirect his energy during walks and may lunge at unfamiliar people, behaviours that will need consistent management and training. He would thrive with an experienced dog owner who understands reactive dogs and is committed to working on his training to help him succeed.

Finn also experiences separation anxiety and needs an adopter who is home frequently, especially during his adjustment period. Once he establishes a solid routine and feels secure in his new environment, he can gradually learn to be comfortable alone for a few hours at a time. He is currently on a daily anxiety medication, but once in a stable environment his adoptive family can work alongside their veterinarian to adjust or decrease the medication over time.

The right home for Finn is one that sees his potential rather than just his challenges. He needs someone who appreciates that with patience, consistency, and proper management, dogs like Finn can live fulfilling lives. His perfect match will be an experienced dog owner who enjoys training, has the time to dedicate to his ongoing development, and understands that some dogs simply need more specialized care to thrive.
