Foster Program

Available Dog Tales Fosters

Thank you for taking the next step and choosing to foster with us! This is where change begins, and we’re thrilled to have you on board. We have many wonderful dogs eagerly waiting for a temporary home. Take a moment to meet some of our adorable residents:

Claude

Meet Claude, a ball of excitement and energy! He’s searching for a family that can keep up with his lively personality, and in return, he’ll fill your days with joy and fun! Claude loves his walks, enjoys getting lots of treats, and is happiest when playing with other dogs—whether big, small, young, or old, Claude gets along with everyone!

While Claude has a lot of love to give, he does experience some separation anxiety, which can make him vocal and a bit destructive when left alone. To help him thrive in his forever home, Claude needs a family with experience handling large breeds and behavioral challenges. Ideally, his new family will be home often and ready to work with the trainers at Dog Tales to help him overcome these obstacles.

Claude is a high-energy boy with a lot of bounce, though his enthusiasm led to a past injury. He suffered a fracture in his right hind hock, which unfortunately required amputation after complications arose. But don't let that slow you down—Claude is healing well and is eager to show off his resilience. Being a three-legged dog hasn’t held him back in the slightest!

In addition to his injury, Claude was also diagnosed with Leishmaniasis, which requires daily medication and regular bloodwork. But don’t let that discourage you—Claude is a fighter and is ready to keep bouncing his way into your heart!

Could Claude be the perfect addition to your family? If you're ready for an energetic and loving companion, he's eager to bring his joy and spirit into your home!

Fossa

Fossa is a sweet senior gentleman whose life took an unexpected turn when his owner lost their home. Now, this loving dog is searching for a family who can provide the comfort and stability he deserves.

At first, Fossa can be a bit anxious with new changes, but once he settles into a routine, he becomes the most loyal and loving companion you could imagine. There's something charmingly unique about Fossa – he has a special love for stuffed animals, often carrying them along during walks, holding them gently in his mouth like treasured friends. His endearing personality makes him a wonderful match for families with children.

Fossa would thrive in a home with a dedicated family willing to continue his training and help him build confidence. He is looking for a patient household that understands the unique needs of a senior dog. While he's working on his leash manners and managing some dog reactivity, Fossa is eager to learn and prove what a wonderful companion he can be.

A house with a consistent routine and loving environment would be the perfect match for this special boy. Fossa isn't just looking for a place to live – he's searching for a family to love, a soft bed to call his own, and the chance to spend his golden years surrounded by comfort and care.

Hana

Meet Hana, an adorable girl with an inspiring spirit and a heart full of love. Originally from Egypt, Hana was recently surrendered to us due to her complex medical needs, but she continues to bring joy to everyone she meets.

Earlier this year, Hana began experiencing seizures. Despite being started on anti-seizure medication, her condition progressed, leading to severe cluster seizures. After being hospitalized, advanced imaging and a spinal tap were performed, revealing that she suffers from Meningoencephalitis of unknown etiology (MUE).

Hana is now on a specialized treatment plan, including two anti-seizure medications and a steroid. She will also receive Cytarabine, an injectable therapy aimed at managing her condition. Although Hana has lost her vision, she hasn't lost her zest for life. She adores going on walks, feeling the world around her, and curling up for snuggles with her favorite people.

Hana is proof that love and determination can brighten even the darkest days, and she's ready to share her sweetness with a family that will cherish her.

Patches

Patches was surrendered to us when her family could not afford to care for her or her brother.

Patches has severe allergies and is doing much better in that regard as they are being treated and monitored closely by a dermatologist team. She is much more physically comfortable, thankfully. Patches is surviving with us, but not thriving as she just doesn’t do all that well with other dogs around her. And there are ever so many dogs around her at all times.

She is absolutely beautiful and ever so sweet. Patches is a pleasure to walk, really friendly with people and will do so well in a home where she is the only dog and with a family that will maintain her diet and medication regimen. Our intention for this foster placement is to allow Patches to really relax. We’re sure her light will shine even.

HONEY

Honey has overcome tremendous challenges after a traumatic event left her with a spinal fracture and a front leg injury, resulting in partial paralysis. Despite these setbacks, Honey’s spirit is unwavering—she adores everyone she meets and has a special fondness for her snuffle mat!

Today, Honey is embracing life with enthusiasm, enjoying her custom wheelchair, which enables her to participate in daily rehabilitation sessions. She also delights in wagon rides, where she gets to explore the world around her.

When Honey first came to us, she was unable to sit up without assistance and could only move her head. But with dedicated care and her own fierce determination, she has made remarkable progress, building strength and muscle in other parts of her body. Although she will never regain full use of her other limbs, Honey’s zest for life is truly inspiring. Due to her medical needs, Honey needs to be expressed 4 times daily.

Honey is a joyful girl with a vibrant personality. She’s searching for a family who will see beyond her physical limitations and embrace the boundless love and happiness she has to give.

Ruby

This strong-hearted lady came to us with a remarkable journey, having been discovered alone on the streets while pregnant, and recently transferred to our shelter to receive the specialized care she deserves.

Ruby starts off shy when meeting new people, but don't let her initial reserve fool you! Once she feels comfortable, she blossoms into a bundle of pure love and affection. Her big heart is waiting to connect with someone who understands her and can help her continue growing in confidence.

Currently, Ruby is a work in progress, seeking an experienced adopter who can support her ongoing leash training. Due to her past experiences, she can be reactive to other dogs, and we're carefully evaluating her socialization skills. Her ideal home would be with teens or adults who can provide patient, consistent guidance and appreciate her unique personality. We are currently investigating medical concerns for Ruby.

Despite her challenges, Ruby is more than her past – she's a powerful girl with an enormous capacity for love, just waiting to share her heart with the right family. She needs a calm, understanding home environment where she can continue to heal, build trust, and become the loving companion she was meant to be.
